What Happened To Jabari Parker? Fans Of The Former No.2 Draft Are Wondering Where He Is Now

Posted by Aldo Pusey on Saturday, April 20, 2024

Jabari Ali Parker is a professional basketball player from the United States who most recently played for the NBA's Boston Celtics (NBA). The Milwaukee Bucks selected him with the second overall choice in the 2014 NBA draft.

He has been released by the Boston Celtics. Parker has been considered a draft flop owing to his lack of success in the NBA, despite being one of the most decorated high school basketball stars in American history.

What Happened To Jabari Parker?

Jabari Ali Parker has failed to live up to the hype in the NBA since his stealer college career. The Celtics let him go because they liked having an open roster slot, but it was also an economic choice.

After an MRI confirmed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee on February 9, Parker was declared out for the remainder of the 2016–17 season.

A 12-month healing and rehabilitation period was anticipated. It was his second ACL injury in the same knee, having suffered the first in December 2014, as reported by the Basketball Network.

Getting back on course after two damaged ACLs in the same knee and shoulder issues can be taxing on the body and, more importantly, the mindset. Parker won't be able to return to his pre-injury form, but he can improve his game or seek out new chances.

Jabari Parker Contract And Salary Update: Former NBA No. 2 Draft Earnings

Jabari Parker was released by the Celtics as his $2.3 million salary contract was due to be guaranteed at the start of the season. His exit was initially reported by Stadium's Shams Charania.

The former NBA No. 2 draft pick's contract for the 2021-22 campaign was supposed to be guaranteed provided he stayed on Boston's roster past Friday.

Instead, the team decided to free up that roster space in order to avoid spending an additional salary and luxury tax on a player who had only played in 12 matches for Boston this season.

In April 2021, Parker joined the Boston Celtics. During the 2020-21 campaign, he participated in 10 games for the team, averaging 6.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 13.8 minutes, according to the Bleacher Report.

Jabari Parker Current Team And Status: Where Is He Now?

Jabari Parker was released by the Boston Celtics and has yet to sign with a new team. He will be free to sign with any NBA franchise if the player goes unsigned.

As the Celtics still have 14 players on regular contracts, they won't be under any rush to fill their newly-opened roster position immediately away.

Parker has been formally released by the club, which they revealed via Twitter. For the 2021/22 season, the 24-year-old will not be guaranteed full pay.

Instead of his $2,239,544 contract for 2021-2022, the athlete will be paid $1,068,288, which is also the sum that would stay on Boston's cap until the forward is claimed off waivers by another club.
